The Balmoral Hotel – Spa Refurbishment Commercial Project Leadership & Delivery

Project Overview

This project formed part of a comprehensive spa refurbishment within a live, five-star hotel environment. The works involved multiple specialist trades, high-quality finishes, and a strong architectural focus on curves, symmetry, and material consistency throughout the space.

The completed spa includes arrival corridors, reception and retail areas, treatment and nail rooms, and lounge spaces — all delivered to an exacting standard expected of a flagship hospitality venue.

My Role on This Project

I was responsible for the day-to-day project leadership and coordination required to deliver the refurbishment successfully, acting as the central point of control between the client team, designers, and specialist contractors.

My role included:

  • Overall project and programme management

  • Coordination and sequencing of multiple specialist trades

  • Quality control and finish sign-off across all areas

  • Liaison with designers, client representatives, and site teams

  • Resolving technical and sequencing challenges, particularly around curved and non-standard details

  • Managing works within a live hotel environment with minimal disruption

I worked closely with the appointed specialists to ensure the design intent, tolerances, and finish quality were achieved consistently throughout.

Delivery Focus

Projects of this nature rely on more than good drawings alone. Achieving a seamless result requires a clear understanding of how architecture, joinery, tiling, lighting, services, and finishes interact on site — and how to manage people, sequence, and detail under real-world constraints.

Particular attention was given to:

  • Alignment of curved architectural features across trades

  • Junction detailing between finishes

  • Coordination of lighting, M&E, and furniture installation

  • Maintaining visual consistency from arrival through to treatment and lounge spaces

The result is a calm, refined spa environment delivered to a standard appropriate for a luxury hospitality setting.
