A three-metre walnut installation designed precisely around a Hisense L9Q ultra-short-throw projector, 120-inch Celexon floor-rising CLR screen and specialist KEF and Anthem AV equipment.
Designed around the equipment
Millimetres mattered.
The room offered very limited headroom beneath a 2,280 mm ceiling and 127 mm coving. The cabinet, projector position and rising screen therefore had to be designed as one exact assembly: the screen needed to clear the coving, the Hisense L9Q required the correct projection geometry, and every speaker and AV component needed ventilation, cable routes and future service access.
The installation accommodates an Anthem MRX 1140 receiver, KEF Ci3160RL-THX left and right speakers, a custom 40-litre centre-speaker enclosure, KEF KASA500 amplification, Apple TV, Sky Mini and Blu-ray equipment. The projector remains intentionally visible while the screen and technology disappear into the furniture when not in use.
The bespoke cabinet was designed and manufactured by Kustom Made. The AV equipment was installed into the completed cabinet by UK Home Cinemas.
The detail that made it work
The cabinet carries a considerable amount of AV cabling. We drew and 3D-printed protective cable-way inserts to finish each opening cleanly, prevent abrasion and make future servicing easier.
